Where does roam-like-at-home apply?
The zone covers all European Union countries plus Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein. Since 1 January 2026, the Roam Like At Home rules also cover Ukraine and Moldova: calls, texts and data there are billed as in Poland.
Note: the United Kingdom and Switzerland are not part of the zone. Check your operator's price list before travelling.
What happens after you exceed the limit?
Once the FUP limit is used up, the operator may charge a surcharge, but no more than the maximum wholesale rate: 5.82 PLN/GB gross in 2026 (from 2027 the wholesale rate drops to 1.00 EUR/GB). The operator must notify you as you approach the limit.
EU roaming: frequently asked questions
Do I pay extra for mobile data while roaming in the EU?
No. Within the EU/EEA you use your phone at domestic prices (“Roam Like At Home”). The operator may only cap the GB available in roaming at the FUP limit derived from your plan price; beyond it, the surcharge is capped at 5.82 PLN/GB gross (2026).
How many GB of data do I get in EU roaming?
At least twice your net monthly price divided by 4.73 PLN (the 2026 wholesale rate). Example: a 65 PLN gross plan gives you a minimum of about 22 GB. Operators often offer more. Check your own price list or use the calculator above.
Are Ukraine and Moldova part of the EU roaming zone?
Yes, since 1 January 2026 Ukraine and Moldova are covered by the Roam Like At Home rules. Calls, texts and data there are billed as in Poland, with the same FUP data limit.
Can I use a Polish SIM card abroad permanently?
No. Roaming is meant for travel, not permanent use in another country. The operator may analyse where you connect over a window of at least 4 months. If roaming prevails, you first receive a warning, and after 2 weeks surcharges may apply.
I'm on prepaid. How much data do I get in roaming?
For prepaid tariffs the operator may limit roaming data to the volume corresponding to your remaining balance (net) divided by the wholesale rate, without the ×2 multiplier that applies to monthly plans.
